For Dr. Mehta, one of the best parts of being a MEMA physician is working alongside one of the most renowned groups of clinicians in the region at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center – the very hospital in which he was born.

An even greater reward comes through his role in providing compassionate, expert emergency care for the vast variety of acute medical situations he encounters daily.  Dr. Mehta has been drawn to emergency medicine’s vital, empathetic nature for as long as he can remember.

After completing his undergraduate education at Duke University and medical school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Dr. Mehta went on to do a residency at The Ohio State University and attained his Executive MBA from The Ohio State University.

“As emergency physicians, we are charged with having a wide breadth of knowledge and skills that encompass many different disciplines – there are no other medical specialties that do what we do,” says Dr. Mehta. “I enjoy the camaraderie with colleagues, providing care that can be life-saving, and going to work knowing that no two days are going to be the same.”

Dr. Mehta is also eagerly preparing for another new role – becoming a first time-parent with his wife (though he’s already a “dog dad” to dog Opal!). Besides preparing for fatherhood, Dr. Mehta stays busy reading, exercising, traveling, hanging out with friends, and following Carolina Panthers football.
