(CHARLOTTE, NC) – October 2020. A bit of bright news comes out of 2020 from the National Association of EMS Physicians (NAEMSP®) as they announced their class of 2020 Fellows of the Academy of Emergency Medical Services (FAEMS) which included Mid Atlantic Emergency Medical Associates’ (MEMA) very own Joshua Loyd, MD. After completing an EMS Fellowship in 2018, Dr. Loyd has been elected this additional distinction with 58 other fellows who join the only 310 fellows previously awarded this designation.
FAEMS was established in 2016 to honor NAEMSP® members who have made special contributions to the Association and the subspecialty of EMS Medicine. This important designation, speaks to contributions to NAEMSP® and highlights commitment to the advancement and refinement of EMS Medicine.
“This distinction provides an opportunity for me to continue contributing to the improvement of emergency healthcare and specifically the subspecialty of Emergency Medical Services through national channels and connections,” says Dr. Loyd. “And to bring that education, leadership, and passion right back to our MEMA teams and Novant partners.”
Dr. Loyd, board-certified in both Emergency Medicine and Emergency Medical Services (EMS), is the Medical Director for Novant Health Critical Care Transport and Novant Health Med Flight. He currently serves as the appointed chairman of the Mecklenburg EMS Medical Control Board and sits on the board of directors for the North Carolina Chapter of College of Emergency Physicians (NCCEP).
