In October, not one, but two clinical staff members of Mid-Atlantic Emergency Medical Associates (MEMA) were recognized for their contributions to emergency medicine.
E. Parker Hays Jr., MD, FACEP, an emergency physician, was presented the Emergency Department Physician of the year award. In paying homage to Dr. Hays’ thirty-plus career in medicine and his efforts at Rowan Medical Center (RMC), the nominating committee chose to rename the award in his name. Beyond his clinical duties, Dr. Hays also serves on the American Board of Emergency Medicine, and teaches emergency medicine as a professor at the UNC School of Medicine, where he was honored as Outstanding Teacher of the Year.
Dr. Hays earned his medical degree at the University of Illinois College of Medicine and completed his residency at Carolinas Medical Center.
Beth McInnis, MSN, ARNP, ACNP-BC, FNP-BC, Director of Advanced Practice Providers at MEMA, received the Richard Davis Advanced Practice Provider of the Year Award for her work at Rowan Medical Center (RMC). Richard Davis was a physician assistant who committed himself to Emergency Medicine as well as RMC for many years. He loved this community and the team that walked through the ER doors daily. For 2023, the nursing team at RMC would like to recognize Beth McInnis as she adapted to RMC very quickly and became an integral part of taking care of the community and team.
Ms. McInnis earned her nursing credentials at Wichita State University, where she completed the Acute Nurse Practitioner Program. She then earned a Post-Master’s Certificate as a Family Nurse Practitioner and continued to work in the Emergency Department. She joined MEMA’s Emergency Medicine department in 2020.
