(CHARLOTTE, NC) – Josh Loyd, M.D., Emergency Medical Physician with Mid-Atlantic Emergency Medical Associates (MEMA) and Medical Director of Novant Health’s Critical Care Transport and Medical Flight programs has been reelected Chairman of the Mecklenburg EMS Medic Control Board and will serve a one-year term through 2022.

The Board is comprised of representatives from both Novant Health and Atrium Health with the board chair alternating between the two organizations. “It is an honor to lead this board once again and to represent MEMA and Novant Health” says Dr. Loyd.

He also shares, “When I took the role initially in 2020, Mecklenburg County had just approved to pilot the newest Emergency Triage, Treat and Transport (ET3) payment model. In 2022 we are finally rolling this program out and it’s exciting to be part of this to see the quality of care for patients improve alongside the updated protocols that will allow for reimbursement for our fellow EMS teams.”

Mid-Atlantic Emergency Medical Associates (MEMA) was founded in 1976.  MEMA is a physician-owned team of more than 85 emergency and acute medical care clinicians that serves the greater Charlotte and Piedmont areas of North Carolina, and the team that staffs Novant’s Charlotte-area emergency departments.
